It is common to resort to using vegetable oil, sewing machine oil, WD40 or similar products, but these provide an ideal attractant for dust particles and dirt which results in a build-up. Instead always use Graphite powder which is greaseless.
Graphite powder is supplied in a small container with a pointed nozzle – making it easy to fit into the keyhole. Insert the tip of the tube or the end of the nozzle into the key slot of the lock. Squeeze the tube or container one or two times.
